Thimblerig had a great time on our recent roadtrip! We headed north to New Jersey and then to Washington DC. It was a fantastic expereince, and we had a lot of fun in some pretty spectacular venues! Check it out:
This is the Thimblerig show you won’t want to miss! We have the honor of having Caravan of Fools playing over, around, and through every single one of our stunts. It’s going to be an amazing show, and we are incredibly excited to try pairing our styles so closely with that of this this talented group.
Jennifer Teeter will be there to show us all how it’s done when it comes to comedy, Caravan of Fools brings the gypsy-dance tunes, and Thimblerig Circus will amaze young and old with our death-defying feats and acts of wondermentation. Come out and see a never-before performed, shiver-inducing stunt!
Doors open Friday at 9:30, with the performance staring at 10pm.
Saturday doors open at 7:30, and we will get things started at 8pm!
We look forward to seeing everyone!

Hello everyone! Though you have perhaps not heard much out of us lately, the Moldavians have been very, very busy over the past month! We had a fantastic time at the Shelter performing with Bitter Ruin and The Extraordinary Contraptions. Thimblerig Circus received a great write-up in conjunction with some great photos at The Backstage Beat that you should definitely check out. You can find it all here! The Shelter is a pretty cool venue, and we are looking forward to performing there again in January. We will be teaming up with some talented musicians and dancers from around Atlanta to put on a silent-film-esque melodrama and variety show! There will be more details about this to follow, but for now you should mark your calendar for January 14th, 2011! Save that date. For concentrated greatness.
Our next show is super exciting, because it will be Thimblerig’s very first out of state trip to perform! We will be the Artist Du Jour at the North Carolina Renaissance Festival on November 20th and 21st! If you can make the trip up or live in the Carolinas, you should come out! We’d love the support, and we are putting together some pretty cool things for this event. Also bring us a coat, because it’s probably going to be cold and we will be in tights and little else. Like this:
Only Baskov will be warm, I feel.
More soon!

We are coming really close to the Thimblerig Circus Birthday Ruckus! We will be performing at the Academy Theatre in Avondale Estates this upcoming Saturday the 25th. The show starts at 8pm and will be an amazing display of everything that Thimblerig Circus has to offer the world. We will perform all of our traditional routines with new twists, plus three new routines that have never been seen in public before! Tickets are $10, online or at the door.
To find directions to the Academy or to call for tickets, you can go HERE.
We have very different birthday traditions in Moldavia than you have here in your America. Moldavian Birthdays are the one day a year that everyone dreads…it is the day you are held accountable and punished for every possible thing you might have done wrong that year. We have heard that your American birthdays are quite different, even tolerable, and we have decided that this tradition must be explored.
To that end, the entire show will be birthday themed! We will have cake for everyone, hopefully some games, and a living pinata! After the show we will have a very special debut of Zolopd’s newest talent: SWORD SWALLOWING. We will actively be taping Zolopd swallowing his first sword in public, that the tape might then be sent away so that he will be recognized as an official sword swallower by the international sword-swallowing community. Because apparently there is one. In any case, come be apart of this historic event!
We are very excited about this show and we hope to see you all there!

A Weekend of Extremes
Aug 10

The weekend of the 20th through the 22nd is going be a busy one for Thimblerig Circus. We will be performing Friday the 20th at a really cool art opening at the Jill Celeste Gallery, which is also the home of a fantastic wine bar! Note that Thimblerig Circus did not necessarily decide to work this gig solely based on the fact that there is a wine bar. Not solely. The opening is from 7pm to 10pm, and looks to host some very cool artists! Come and hang out with us…see how many glasses of wine we can handle before we set ourselves on fire. A good show is pretty much guaranteed. Info here.
The very next night (Saturday the 21st) we will be performing at Lenny’s Bar with the Extraordinary Contraptions! The show starts at 9pm, though if Lenny’s holds true to form this might mean anywhere from 10 to 11:30pm. The ultimate dive bar, Lenny’s is something everyone should experience in Atlanta at least once. No wine to affect the show here…just can after (delicious?) can of PBR. Info here!
As a cool side-note, Thimblerig Circus was asked to perform again for the kids at Circus Camp this past Thursday and it was awesome all over again! Thank you guys for letting us come play. We look forward to coming back next year!

Circus Camp!
Jul 15
We have had such a great week! One week ago today Zoloft and I performed for the kids at Circus Camp at the northern Dunwoody campus, and today we had the opportunity to play for the Dacula campus as well! Thanks to everyone over at Circus Camp for being such good hosts, and for all the campers specifically for being such a great audience! We got some awesome video and a few very good photos of all this stuff, so look for that in the coming week…just as soon as I can find the right cable.
We already have a busy August shaping up. Dates to catch Thimblerig Circus in the near future include:
- A fundraiser for the Eyedrum Art Gallery on August 7th
- Playing as the guest performer with Improv Monster at Relapse Theatre on August 12th
- Partnering with the Extraordinary Contraptions for a awesome evening of music and marvels at Lenny’s Bar on August 21st
Other possibilities are brewing, but we will wait for a while on those. Look for dates to pop up in the sidebar!
Other items of note…Thimblerig Circus will be working with the incredibly talented artist Jason Thomas to create some T-shirts and other clearly necessary accouterments. Hopefully we will all be sporting these new status symbols soon!
Hopefully we will be seeing you all soon!

See the Gyrasticus!
Jul 3
Man, did we have a busy week last week! Everything went so incredibly well! I hope everyone had as much fun at the Gyrasticus event as we did…what an awesome crowd that was. Thanks to everyone that was involved…you all did a fantastic job!
Next up on the Thimblerig docket: Circus Camp! Thimblerig Circus will be performing Thursday 8th and 15th for the campers, and we are really looking forward to it. Circus Camp is really cool organization, and if you’ve never heard of them you should check them out here.
That’s all for now! Have a great Fourth of July everybody!
